FORTUNE FAVOURS THE BOLD!
ATHLETICS
INTER HIGH
20 FEBRUARY
This year the Inter High Athletics was hosted by Kanonkop High School in
Witbank. The atletics meeting started with the long hurdles and this year
our athletes did exceptionally well in the hurdles event. We want to thank
Mrs R Eksteen for coaching these events.
Our most outstanding during this meeting was Lesedi Matlala that won the
Junior Victrix Ludorum. She achieved the highest ASA total of all the junior
girls in three events.
Other athletes that also won trophies were Vivian Beukes, who won gold
medals in the 400m, 800m and 1500m. He was crowned the best middle
distance athlete during this meeting and showed why he has the best fight-
ing spirit during his races. Jael Nhamunde won the triple jump for girls
u/17 with a distance of 8,99m, but what made her victory so great was that
she only learned how to do the triple jump that morning. She then went on
to be crowned the best long jump / triple jump athlete. Shingirai Nyangane
known fondly as "The Beast" won the boys u/16 Shotput with a great distan-
ce of 12,23m and earned him the trophy for the best shotput result during
this meeting.
Other athletes we can also mention are Lonwabo Ludaka, an u/16 boy,
that ran a great 110m Hurdles race and Madibolo Segane who achieved
in the 400m hurdles and a lot more.
This year we achieved 23 1st places, 27 2nd places and 26 3rd places to
place us second overall.
This is the first time our boys and girls did so well at this meeting. Our
school placed second in the overall results.
Thank you to all the officials and athletes for working together to make
our school great.
NEXT YEAR WE ARE GOING
